What about us
Nokia is paving the way to the mobile information society with
its innovative products and solutions. The company is the leading
mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed
and IP networks, related services as well as multimedia terminals.
In 1999, Nokias net sales totaled EUR 19.8 billion (USD 19.9
billion). Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is listed on the New
York (NOK), Helsinki, Stockholm, London, Frankfurt and Paris stock
exchanges and employs more than 55 000 people.
Nokia Networks (NET) is a total system supplier providing and
developing network infrastructure systems and related customer
services to meet the diverse, global market needs in mobile, fixed,
IP and converging environments. Our customers include mobile and
fixed operators as well as carrier class Internet Services Providers.
Nokia Networks intends to change the playing field in IP communications
in the same way as cellular changed voice communications, by combining
the benefits of IP and mobility through seamless services enabled
by unified core communications networks. Our strategy towards
Mobile Information Society takes two parallel but complementary
paths. One with roots in the IP network. We call this strategy
Global IP Mobility.
From Paper
to Phones
Nokias history dates back to 1865, when the Finnish mining engineer
Fredrik Idestam established a wood pulp mill in Southern Finland
and began manufacturing paper. Since then, the company has evolved
dramatically, growing first into a conglomerate encompassing industries
ranging from paper to chemicals and rubber, and streamlining in
the 1990s into a dynamic telecommunications company.
Nokias history has shown that the right decisions made at the
right time breed success. We are confident that this vision and
the courage to create new opportunities will help us achieve our
targets as we move into a new era in communications.
Our Values
Connecting people is more than a slogan, its a philosophy reflected
in our corporate culture and in peoples life at work. Joining
Nokia means prioritising respect for the individuals, customer
satisfaction, employees achievement and promoting continuous
learning. Everyone is encouraged to improve in his field and to
broaden his skills. In that way, continuous learning is essential.
We are looking for strong personalities with team spirit, open-minded
and flexible, ready to take responsibilities.
In addition, Nokia has a Student Exchange Program, which is directed
at vocational, and university students all over the world. It
involves all Nokia Business Units, every country unit and provides
students with the opportunity to work in an international and
exciting environment. The main objective of the program is to
secure Nokias present and future need for enthusiastic and talented
employees.
