Russian Interpreters/Translators
Arabic Interpreters/Translators
Urdu Interpreters/Translators

Your tasks:
  • oral interpretation: from Russian/Arabic/Urdu to English, and English to Russian/Arabic/Urdu during confidential interviews with persons detained in prisons, ICRC institutional dissemination, message delivery and visits to families of detainees
  • written translation: translation of written Russian/Arabic/Urdu (newspaper articles, correspondence, etc.) into written English
  • analysis and reporting: analysis of conditions of detention, security and other matters relating to the ICRC's mandate
Selection requirements:
  • ideal age: 25 to 35
  • either single or prepared to accept an unaccompanied posting of at least one year
  • university education or 5 years of professional experience
  • excellent command of English, French an asset
  • familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software
  • driving licence (a licence for automatic-transmission vehicles only is not sufficient)
